4 Steps To Achieving A Simpler Home Life
Living simply. It’s a trend that seems to be on the rise, but more than a minimalistic style trend, living a more simple home life can set you free in so many areas. Creating a house that works for your family but that allows you to have more time, resources, and space for other things you love in life is what it is all about. In fact, many of you know that we recently completely downsized our lives and are now living our dreams by traveling the country full time in our RV. Anyone can do something like this, or achieve the same freedoms from the comfort of their own home, so here is my 4 tips for helping you get there!
When you have less stuff and less clutter your mind in turn has less of the worry. You no longer have to get frustrated every time you open up that junk drawer. Forget about wasting money on countless products that seem to never get used and then you find expired in the cabinet. Using your resources wisely is key to having a simpler home life.
1. Buy products that work for the whole family.
It’s easy to get caught up in the hype of buying a different cleaner for every single individual in your home, but how about simplifying your space by only having to purchase and stock one type? I love that there are products on the market that are safe and QUALITY products so that I know I am keeping my loved ones as healthy as possible. We have been using the AVEENO PURE RENEWAL® Shampoo and Conditioner for all of our different hair types. AVEENO PURE RENEWAL® Shampoo and Conditioner contains naturally derived cleansers and a sulfate free formula to gently cleanse your hair and scalp. It’s so important to know what I’m cleansing my hair with and that’s why I’m excited about these sulfate-free hair care products. It’s one small step in achieving my goals of living a healthy lifestyle.
Be sure to find it in your local Walmart! I found it on the bottom row in the middle of the hair care aisle.

2. Plan meals for the week that use many of the same ingredients.
I cannot even explain to you how guilty I was of wasting food each week. I had good intentions. I would scour Pinterest for amazing recipes and purchase all the ingredients, spices, herbs that they required. The trouble was, if we had something come up one night and we didn’t eat at home that meal quickly got pushed further into the back of the fridge and ultimately I would find the ingredients, unusable, the next week. Now, we have started buying food that can make a large variety of meals. Instead of buying so many extra ingredients, we stick with a weekly plan that doesn’t require too much variety while still making yummy foods. No more wasting foods!
3. Keep your belongings in tip-top shape!
I am one of those people who loves to use things until they cannot be used anymore & this is something that has helped me create a simpler home life. Since we have taken on the responsibility of truly making sure that we are keeping our things – expensive or inexpensive – in the best shape we can, I have notice that we are able to keep things or reuse things, which has given us more freedom to spend our money on fun adventures (not replacing socks every month). One of the products that I owe to this is the NEW sulfate free all® fresh clean ESSENTIALS® which delivers a powerful clean without harshness. It’s amazing how much your detergent can make or break our clothing, towels, and bedding. all® is the first laundry detergent to have the ingredients on the label – so I know exactly what we are adding into our lives. Nothing extra – that’s the plan! Our clothes seem better than ever – especially because the sulfate-free formula infuses fabrics with essential, proven and effective ingredients for a great clean and stain lifting power.

4. De-clutter your space.
You can take as long a time as you need to get this done – so don’t feel like it needs to be done on one Saturday afternoon. We downsized our lives by probably 80%. It was crazy! We kept scaling down and down and down and realizing we still needed to get rid of more. We made a drastic life change – but for those just looking to make their home simpler going through a closet a week can do wonders. You know that rule; if you haven’t worn it in 6 months get rid of it? Well, I had heard it all my life but this year I finally followed it & boy, does it feel good! Now, I only have the things I actually like and need and I don’t have to be overwhelmed by the mess that the excess created. It’s a great feeling.
