Add Some Greens, Mama
I know that I don’t need to go into a rant all about how eating healthy is the most important thing we can do for our families – we all know it’s the truth. The reality, however, is that we find ourselves in a place where it isn’t always easy to do so & then throw in how picky the littles can be & all of a sudden the house can become a snack-haven instead of a fresh kitchen. This month, I wanted to take some time to refresh my outlook on what we were putting in our bodies. I wanted to make sure that we were adding delicious & exceptionally great nutrition into our everyday meals! I have always been interested in juicing so we got the chance to try out the Veestro Juice Cleanse!
As I browsed the Veestro site, I knew that this was just what I needed to jumpstart the addition of fun new and healthy foods in our lives. Since we are so “on-the-go” lately, the juices were perfect for us. Both my hubby & I got the 3 day juice cleanse. The first day, we stuck to it & drank just our juices. I wasn’t sure if I would go the whole 3 days on only juice, but for me, this wasn’t the purpose. I am on a mission to find a healthy balance in how we see and integrate foods & this was just the start. By day two, we had a surprise dinner & we did end up eating out, but not before I drank one of my juices as I got ready for the night. This is what I loved the most about Veestro though. They provided me with no-guilt snacks and beverages that I could either choose to be a meal replacement or just a beverage to sip on while running my daily errands. (A much better choice than a daily Starbucks!)
I received a ton of questions when I shared on my Instagram Stories about these juices & so I want to make sure that I answer some of them here in case you are wondering the same thing!
Do they taste good?
This is a resounding YES. I have tried some pretty repulsive green juices in my lifetime & I am happy to report that these in no way were hard to drink! I actually really really enjoyed them. The Johnny Appleseed & Hand Greenade were my personal favorites with the Cleansing Tonic being my least favorite (but that’s just because I am not a beets person). I thought that they were great recipes though that were proportioned perfectly so I didn’t feel like I was drinking too much or too little at one time.
Was the cleanse easy to stick to?
Now, I already outed myself… I didn’t stick to the traditional idea of a “cleanse” – although I think in a few months I’m going to pick a date and try it again. With the craziness of moving, it was hard to do. (We had 2 parties come up on the last two days – I mean, how unfair! 😉 lol) But in all honestly, I think it’s a great system to stick to if you are looking for a 3 day cleanse. The flavors are great – as I said above – and there are 6 of them for each day. I was actually full for the day off just 4 or 5 of them – so I really didn’t feel to hungry at all. I would highly recommend their system.
Side note: MY KIDS LIKED THEM TOO. And yes, I am screaming that because it’s kind of a miracle that they liked something that had zero added sugar – so major win for mama here!
Until recently, I had never order any type of food online – so I was always skeptical about how fresh it arrived, if it was still cold, etc… Veestro delivered within 2 days & the box was full of dry ice with the juices all perfectly frozen. Not even a splash of melted juice to be seen. I was impressed that it stayed so very cold. Then, the juices go into the freezer until you are ready to drink – at that time, you take the juices out 24-48 hours before you’re going to consume them and stick them in the fridge. Super easy.
