There is something so instinctively magical about the summertime. I think deep down, all of us get a little giddy when we know it’s on its way, & I am definitely no exception. There is an amped up joy and a desire to get all your family and friends together to enjoy the sunshine. I have always been one for getting out and truly soaking in the season & this year will be absolutely no different! We will be traveling all summer – a new state every month – but I have a sure way to make friends wherever we go, & I am certain that there will be tons of new faces and yummy BBQ’s in our future!
Hours and hours in the car? It can seem overwhelming, but I can promise you that with some of the tips I have gathered in our travels lately – from first hand experience with two toddlers – you can definitely take that trip you have been dying to go on! I am a firm believer that there is a way to do what you want. Make it happen! It may take extra planning or sacrifices on one end or another, but I am certain that the itch you have to travel can become your reality. Here are some of my top tips for road trips with your family!
Living in a small space can have it’s challenges. Add on that the small space has wheels and no permanent address & there are even more things to overcome! Living in our RV has been a blast so far, but since it is our home away from home for the foreseeable future, I wanted to make sure that it received all the charm and the personal touches as our house had. Of course, there isn’t as much wall space and certainly not as much storage space, so making it work has been a game of Tetris. I am absolutely loving the details that we have added & thanks to my friends at MPix, we have made our camper feel more like home.
Bringing kids to the zoo is always a good choice. There is something so magical about being transported from everyday life into the mystical jungle filled with beasts you don’t often get to see up close and personal. Ryland & Landon are such nature lovers and so getting them in front of some beautiful animals just makes their joy levels go through the roof. We had such a blast today as we explored the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo in Gulf Shores! Their tagline is “The Little Zoo That Could” and I swear, once you go there, you will see exactly why!
It’s been a week since we locked up our home back in Sarasota and hit the road in this RV life full time! Life has just been an absolute whirlwind around here, but the best kind! Since we have been in Alabama since last Thursday, we have had the chance to see so many incredible places, spend so much time as a family, and eat at some of the most delicious places in town. I would say it’s been one amazing week! I’m here to fill you in on all that we have conquered this week in Gulf Shores, Alabama so that you can hit the road & join us! (Not kidding, come on! 😉 )
We DID it. We made it to Gulf Shores, Alabama & we are so happy that this is the first stop on our journey! The town is absolute perfection. We are right along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico (and are joking a lot that it looks like home!) But the beaches are stunning, the weather is just right, and the people could not be sweeter. Southern hospitality at it’s finest around here. Speaking of impeccable hospitality, we had the treat of dining out at LuLu’s Gulf Shores for lunch & cannot wait to share it with you!
Dreams do come true. You know, the dreams made of massive cotton candy, your favorite Disney songs + characters, and Olaf snow cones. THOSE DREAMS. Well, they certainly came true for us last night as we attended Disney on Ice in Tampa, Florida. To say that my kids were mesmerized would be a total understatement. Their awe made this mama heart so happy & of course I enjoyed the beauty and the fun of the show as well. I’m excited to share some of the details of the night with you so you know what to expect if you are considering heading to the show yourself!
Traveling is one of my favorite things to do! No matter how crazy it can get (especially with kids), there is nothing quite like getting to see and experience a new place. Between the 10 hour drive, getting lost, driving up mountains that our little sedan should never have tried, and my kids being a part of #teamnosleep all week – we still had a BLAST. I absolutely loved Ellijay and the beautiful cabin we stayed in! We also headed over to Helen which was about an hour and a half away which is the most adorable little German inspired town! This was definitely a Christmas that we will never forget! I hope you enjoy the photos!
