Cleaning & Organizing Hacks
For me, the key to keeping things ‘clean” is making sure that everything has a home. Things WILL get messy – things WILL get unorganized – and you WILL look around and wonder how your house became such a disaster in such a short amount of time when you are a mama but I assure you, there are ways to make the clean up process a little smoother. Now I am no expert… In fact, many would probably say I am not even mediocre in the cleaning department, but that is why I find all the hacks so genius. Let’s work smarter, not harder.
- Make things as easy as possible for yourself. If you’re a mommy like me, then you generally only have one hand free to get things done. Having everything in a place that is easily accessible, but still tidy, makes my daily chores so much easier. One of my favorite new hacks is to invest in some Lil’ Holsters from Holster Brands.
Have you ever been trying to wash the dishes and simply keep dropping your sponge, loosing it in the bubbles, or worse, leaving it on the counter (sopping wet) and giving yourself MORE of a mess to clean up? I literally always thought – “there must be a better way” – but after trying random organizing gadgets from here and there, I realized they all would fall off my sink because they had terrible suction, get disgusting themselves, or just look terrible on our countertops.
These Lil’ Holsters are really cute, have adjustable lengths, can be moved here and there without loosing their “stick”, and have made my life so much easier!!
I also have been using them in the bathroom and bedroom. It also puts the lotions and soaps in the perfect spot for me to grab them & put them away quickly!
- Create bins & baskets for toys. You don’t even know how many times I have tried to organize my kids toys – but the truth is that they are going to mixed up and misplaced. I have settled for having a home that is full of bins and baskets, but you know what? I love it! Everything has it’s own bin! It makes cleaning up so much faster and the bins slip into our cabinets or slide into a corner making them a cute decor piece, but not leaving us spending 20 minutes lining up things neatly on a shelf. Ryland is a greta helper putting all his toys in his bins at the end of the day. #MomWin We can try to tackle full on toy organization when they are a little older 😉
- Create a daily cleaning chart & try your best to stick to it. This is something new I am implementing and it is keeping me on track so I don’t get overwhelmed! Download one for yourself here! Feel free to add anything that is specific to your home – but this is a good basis for getting everything cleaned each week.
- Keep a smaller dish drying rack. This is all about the mind game. I got rid of my GIANT dish rack and now, since I only have one small one, I tend to do the dishes right away or hand dry them immediately after washing which gets them done and put away WAY faster then when I would allow them to pile up in the dish rack all day long…
There are COUNTLESS other tips & tricks out there so please leave a comment below about what works best for you in your home! I would love to know!
