Dreamin’ Outside The Box
Dreaming. It’s something that I encourage no one ever stop doing. It is something that I want to instill into my kids & let them know that every dream they have can become a reality if they work hard enough at it. I have had so many dreams, and continue to have some that are near to my heart, and I’m not letting anything stand in their way. In fact, my kids have helped give me more of a drive then ever before & for that, I am thankful. Time for us as parents to let our kids know that DREAMS are for them too. Their dreams matter.
It doesn’t matter if our kids are dreaming of becoming a garbage truck driver or the President of the USA. The support and encouragement that we show them now, as littles, is the confidence that they will have with them as they grow. I am so excited to see the amazing men that my boys become, but in the meantime, we are playing outside the box so that they know how important their little minds and hearts are to this world.
Every child should have the opportunity to dream. But that isn’t always the case. This is one of the passions behind Cheeky Days | Outside the Box! Not only is each monthly subscription filled to the brim with crafts, stories, and activities that inspire our own children, but there is a way to give back as well. This month’s subscription was called “Dare to Dream” and (as you can tell so far) it really encouraged me and Ryland to create memories together that we will cherish. I could explain it in more detail, but I am loving how they describe themselves:
Ever think, my kid sure doesn’t need any more toys? Every wonder what it takes to raise a little one who thinks of others and not just themselves? Love Pinterest, but think sure that’s cute but I don’t even know where to buy a glue gun? Barely have time for that trip to the grocery store much less 10 trips to Target for one craft that may last 5 minutes?
Now if that doesn’t speak to you as a parent, then you are doing something much differently than I. Where can I sign up for your parenting class?
Everything shows up at your doorstep and you are ready to play! A monthly plan and a way to give back to others all included so that the fun doesn’t have to end 5 minutes later. The first thing we grabbed out of the box was this adorable Dreamin’ like MLK tee & Ryland wanted it on right away. How fitting! Next, we read through the oh so creative book, “Bogo: The Fox Who Wanted Everything.” What I loved most about this story was that it encourages kids to never give up, especially not on themselves and what makes them perfectly unique. Next were these adorable Encouraging Love Notes. Could you just die at how cute they are?!The products didn’t even stop there. I also discovered this precious Kurandza bracelet, which supports East African entrepreneurship. Amazing, right!?
Ryland loves any and every excuse to pull out a glue stick and get messy, glittery, and of course sticky. One of the absolute best perks of having your own Outside the Box subscription is how convenient it is! Once it arrived, it was seconds before the supplies had been pulled out by my toddler and I didn’t have to tell him to wait as I searched the house for the glue stick we probably didn’t have on hand. It came included so that the DIY’s can start without any down time.
We sat, laughed, and giggled as Ryland wrapped and beaded his very own dream catcher with the supplies provided. The subtle reminder that you can dream up anything your little heart desires.
We are so fortunate. As we played, I thought about the wonderful memories that I am trying to bring my kids up with – but this box doesn’t stop there. This is why they are so different and so incredible. After we created the dreamcatcher, we moved onto the service project for the box this month, which was creating a Happy Birthday Banner to donate to The Birthday Party Project. Basically, this organization brings birthday party celebrations to homeless children who would otherwise not have one. Think about the time and effort many of us put into planning our kids parties… and to think that some kids don’t have that is heartbreaking. Creating a banner as a contribution is the least we can do!
If you want to help inspire your kids, then Cheeky Days | Outside The Box is definitely for you! I cannot wait to see what other months hold!
