Getting Kids To Love The Great Outdoors
My kids have grown up as outdoor children – with much thanks to my husband. They have always been happier if they are running around in the sunshine and the grass (or sand!) beneath their feet. I know not everyone has access to a beach or a beautiful playground near their home, but that shouldn’t stop you from getting out and allowing your littles to enjoy the great outdoors! I am sharing with you today some of our favorite ways to spend time in nature & how to get your children to love it too.
If you have been around my blog for some time now, then you know a few things about my family for certain… one of them being that we are a BIG fishing family & that we love time spent together! What’s ironic about this statement, however, is that I have never personally been into fishing myself, but I love the chance to relax outside by the lake or ocean, and watch my husband show our kids how to participate in this activity as old as time. They have great bonding time, my son learns patience and skills that will help him in so many other areas, and we are getting away from the chaos of everyday life.
Also, if you didn’t already know, Heath (the baby daddy) owns a kayak fishing company and Ryland is completely obsessed with the idea of it. He talks about kayaking and catching fish more than any average 2 year old does, I’m certain, but this makes for one proud dad. 🙂
As promised, here is a list of some of our favorite outdoor activities perfect for spring & summer! How about printing it out and seeing how many you and your kids can complete this year!?
When kids are outside, it’s important that they have the proper clothing & gear to make it an enjoyable experience! For about a year now, Oakiwear has been out go-to brand for all things OUTDOORS for toddlers! They have some adorable rash guards for girls & boys to make these fun adventures comfortable and completely do-able! if you are getting even more adventurous this spring, then be sure to take a look at their boots and waders for toddlers as well! It’s the perfect spot for getting the essential nature gear 🙂
