Surviving Rainy Days with Little Kids

In Florida, the weather is often extremely unpredictable. There is one thing that we can almost always count on though and that is that right when the weather is starting to get a little less humid we end up in hurricane season and that means that our glorious days of heading to the pool every afternoon come to a halt for a few weeks. This week we were stuck indoors due to the rain and wind, but we’re dreaming of brighter days back in the water, however we are staying entertained with these adorable toys from Little Tikes.

My kids are total Florida boys and love anything water related. Underwater animals & sea creatures are a huge hit with us, so these stimulating baby toys are just perfect! The Little Tikes Shake ‘n Rattle Crabbie Ring and Hide ‘n Seek Hermie have really brought my boys together and it’s been such a joy watching them play together with these while we are homebound. My guys are so close in age, yet up until this point they didn’t have much to relate to each other about because of their stages of life. Over the last week or so, I’ve noticed that they really are beginning to play with toys together and it’s just the sweetest thing ever!

I love how these soothing baby toys are helping Landon achieve developmental milestones and Ryland is able to take part in helping me play and educate his little brother. I knew having siblings was going to be fun but it’s proving to be even more fun than I imagined. The Shake ‘n Rattle Crabbie Ring makes lots of noise and it’s easy for Landon to grip so he’s been carrying it around, shaking it, and watching the claws open and shut – I thought that was a super cute detail.

The Hide ‘n Seek Hermie is an awesome way to get babies understanding cause and effect. Landon has started pulling on the ring which causes it to vibrate and make noise, and it makes him giggle like no other. Watching him learn that he’s the one making that happen is an amazing thing. Ryland has been so proud of little Landon playing with his toys all on his own.

Here’s a few of the ways that we are staying entertained during these rainy days:

Bring out NEW toys or toys that your children forgot about, that way it’s something that may keep them entertained a little bit longer!
Teach them about the weather – we have been talking about the rain, taking baths, and pretend playing that we are outside playing in it as well!
Make it a relaxing day – try movies, board games, snacks. Since it is likely dark and gloomy out, that snuggly feeling can take over – take advantage of it!

If you have a newborn or little ones at home, I highly suggest the Little Tikes Shake ‘n Rattle Crabbie Ring & Hide ‘n Seek Hermie toys! You can never go wring with quality toys that encourage eductaional play between your kiddos! They even have another in the collection, the Little Tikes Soothe ‘n Spin Octopus. How cute is that!? These are such great tips for momma’s. All the rain ever made me want to do was sleep, but that never happens when you have an active kiddo lol.

Summer in Texas is usually hot and sunny, but this year we’ve had several weeks of it being hot and rainy. There’s only so much kids TV a mom can handle, these are fantastic ideas!

Great ideas. I’m in AZ and during monsoon season it’s tough cuz it’s 100+degrees out but torrential downpours too. And keeping kids in can make he days long and exhausting. Hope you made it through the Florida rain!

Those toys are so adorable!! I agree 100% about taking out toys they haven’t seen in a while. We do a toy rotation between our house and my parents house every 1-2 months! Even having them in a different location makes them feel new.

Great tips! i was actually thinking about this a few days ago, we live in Spain now where it doesn´t rain often but i am from the netherlands where it rains like always. Here we´re outside all the time but i was wondering a few days ago what i would do with my days when that wouldn´t be possible… Seems like you read my mind!

I hope you made it through the recent Florida weather. Rainy days are nice but when you have littles, it can get tedious. Great tips and toys!
