Teaching My Kids To Give Back This Christmas
When it comes to my job as a parent, I don’t think there is much more important then teaching my kids to be generous and to joyfully give to others. I whole heartedly believe that learning to give to others is a lifestyle & something that if parents model well, kids will know to be the norm as they grow and mature. My husband and I are focused on making sure that our boys understand how lucky and blessed they truly are and how others are not always in the same place in life – but that no matter our place, we can always find ways to help and encourage.
As the holidays approach, it seems the joy and love for giving becomes even more evident around the world & I just love that! I love that there are so many opportunities to give back right before our eyes. The ability to practically show and teach our kids in an environment they know and surrounding a holiday they love is easy and fun to do. For the past few years, my sons have been too little to really understand the concept of giving back or donating time and presents, but this year Ryland is the perfect age!
We have been fans of Incredibundles for a while now & last year we even gifted some as gifts to family and friends with kids and babes, but I wanted to do something different this year. Since there are so many opportunities to give gifts to those in need & who cannot get them for their own families, I wanted to get a specially curated box for a baby to give to one of these organizations. The boys helped me look through the website & pick the Toddler Play & Learn Bundle! Ryland thought it was a great choice because of the fun blocks and drum. He’s a big fan or building and of music, so this was a good match. I had to remind him a few times that the guft would not be for him to keep but for him to donate to another child who would love and appreciate it. He seemed to understand and I was excited to receive it in the mail so he could tangibly see what he had chosen.
Incredibundles is the perfect place to shop for gifts that you will donate to organizations because the presents come already wrapped and packaged in a gorgeous and playful box all tied with a bow and tissue paper. No need to wrap or anything! They are ready to be given to another & I love the full service they offer.
Ryland was thrilled to see what was in the box when it arrived! I allowed him to carefully look through what we had bought so that he could be reminded. We talked about how another baby or child would be so thrilled to get this for Christmas and he was ecstatic about it. Seeing the joy that he was gaining in knowing that he was able to give such an awesome gift was such an amazing sight.
I encourage you this season to look around your communities and find ways to give back. Involve your children – what they learn now will be the future that our world will know!
