“But What About Socialization!?!”
I’m about to say something controversial…
My kids being with their friends is not a top priority for us.
Critics are gonna take this the wrong way, but hear me out…
One of the biggest criticisms of homeschooling is that kids need to be with their friends, and socialize.
If that’s something that is near and dear to your heart, then so be it. But for our family, we are focusing on two major things:
• their relationship with God
• their relationship with family
This does not mean they don’t have friends. Or that friends are not an important part about growing up.
It simply means that for us, growing them in their identity in the Lord & establishing deep, honest, and safe family relationships means that they will have plenty of opportunity for healthy relationships as they grow.
Are friends a gift from the Lord? Of course!
But enrolling them in school because we prioritize socializing with friends over God & family? Not for us.
The funny thing is that our kids naturally have so many opportunities to socialize, but that’s a topic for another day. 😅
Do any other families feel the same as me?! Let me know your take!
