“But What About Socialization!?!”

I’m about to say something controversial…⁣

My kids being with their friends is not a top priority for us. ⁣

Critics are gonna take this the wrong way, but hear me out… ⁣

One of the biggest criticisms of homeschooling is that kids need to be with their friends, and socialize. ⁣

If that’s something that is near and dear to your heart, then so be it. But for our family, we are focusing on two major things: ⁣

• their relationship with God ⁣
• their relationship with family ⁣

This does not mean they don’t have friends. Or that friends are not an important part about growing up. ⁣

It simply means that for us, growing them in their identity in the Lord & establishing deep, honest, and safe family relationships means that they will have plenty of opportunity for healthy relationships as they grow. ⁣

Are friends a gift from the Lord? Of course! ⁣

But enrolling them in school because we prioritize socializing with friends over God & family? Not for us. ⁣

The funny thing is that our kids naturally have so many opportunities to socialize, but that’s a topic for another day. 😅 ⁣

Do any other families feel the same as me?! Let me know your take!
